The "What in the Hell is going on" item of the Day.

A couple of days ago Rudy Tomjanovich resigned as coach of the Lakers, claiming the emotional strain was taking a toll on his health. Being a Lakers fan, and the only living inhabitant on planet earth that is still a Kobe Bryant fan, I wondered who they would get as a new head coach. Then the unbelievable happened, Phil Jackson's name was thrown in the mix as a replacement for Tomjanovich. Phil Jackson, the same Phil that left because the money he was offered wasn't enough, the same Phil that was supposedly "ran out of town" by Kobe Bryant?? The same Phil Jackson that wrote a tell all book blasting Kobe, and calling him everything but the son of god? His possible return is just a rumor right?? Maybe not. Jackson was quoted as saying that the situation in Los Angeles "intrigues" him, and the he would entertain a offer. Plus, he is dating Jeanie Buss, the daughter of laker owner Jerry Buss, and she has been on a few radio shows talking up Phil's return.

It sounds like a soap opera, but then again the Lakers have been a constant soap opera for the past 6 years so why should anything be different now. But then again, the reuniting of Kobe and Phil could work. One of the main arguments that they had was that Phil wanted to run the Offense through Shaq. But being that that whining malcontent has his "I can't seem to get Kobe's name out of my mouth" ass in Miami, that is no longer a problem. Can Phil take my Lakers back to the promiseland? I guess I have to wait and see.

Phil returning would be toxic. It would further the daytime televisiono-like drama that the Lakers have been suffering from for the past few years while the visions of the palyoffs fade in the distance. I'm not sure why they would even entertain the idea. What they need is a uniter. Phil's been too much of a punk ass bitch (or maybe it's a bitch ass punk) when it comes to running his mouth to the media. They need someone more diplomatic with the press. That or a muzzle.

That's some weird shit, I didn't hear about that.

I don't think Kobe will want to play for Phil. I'm not a Kobe fan, or even a Laker fan for that matter but I had no respect for Phil after that book.

Yeesh.

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. I don't know much about basketball to make a comment on this post, but I'll be checking up later. :o)

I DID enjoy your blog......until this. You're a LAKERS fan??!!?? And a Kobe fan??!! *pulling you close and whispering Look, just delete those few sentences that admit your guilt and we can act like this never happened...I got yo back!! We can deny, deny, deny! Nobody has to know..you still have time!!..*

But for real, if Big Phil comes back, I sense a Sprewell situation, except this time it may be the coach choking the player. Good luck to 'em all...

I'm a Lakers fan, too, but I can't understand how they could or why they would bring back Phil. They didn't win a title last season with him and Kobe and Shaq, why the hell would anyone think he could turn the team around without Shaq. I think he might be using this as a ploy to get a better offer somewhere else.

Plus, who wants a constant reminder of what might have been. Can we trade Kobe and Odom to Miami for Wade and Shaq? Probably not ... why on earth would the Heat want Kobe?

I think bring Phil back would add even more drama to the Lakers. I'm not a Lakers or Kobe fan but I don't think that Phil Jackson is good for that team anymore.
